Piano Hinged Book

I made this some time ago, using bamboo skewers for the book bind. I am including a blog which has a very nice tutorial for making this same kind of book using paper bags.  I have not cut off the ends of the bamboo skewers. At the time, I didn’t have a tiny saw to cut them. Bamboo is very hard and needs to be cut with a little dremel saw blade or it will splinter. The spine shows how the skewers were woven in between the pages of cardstock.  The fold out tag was in the pocket on the front of the book. The important thing to remember when making this type of book, is to make yourself a template for the “V” cuts for the cardstock so all the pages will be lined up properly.

Crazy for Cupcakes

Feb 23rd, 2009 Posted in Card Classes | Comments Off

We had our Cards Galore class this past weekend and I used the Crazy for Cupcakes Planner created by Andrea Walford for SU Demos (see her demo to demo link on this site for all planners available to purchase) for the cards for this class. I had all the pieces cut out and all the directions, and of course the gals had to do something different, so I’ve included a couple of them  here for you to see their creations. One of my stampers (Gail), really got into the watercoloring and blended her colors very nicely on the cupcakes!! Way to go Gail!!  The first card done in chocolate and pink, is the reverse side of the paper used in some of the other cards. The dazzling diamonds really sets off the cupcakes.  We always do 10 cards in this class, so I added a “non pink” card with the Bigshot scallop envelope and the Delicate Dots DP (SAB freebie) with the So Saffron cs for the 5th design. And of course, one wanted a PINK envelope, so I cut her one from the Always DP. Hope you like it.. come back soon!!

Recipe: Stamp Set: Crazy for Cupcakes and On Your Birthday; Inks: Basic brown, chocolate chip; Cardstock : Choc chip, so saffron, regal rose, whisper white; DP: Always; Accessories: SU Markers- various colors , water pen and blender pens,  Dazzling diamonds, 2 way glue pen, gold brads, scallop border punch, tag punch.
