Easter Eggs with “Glitz”

Mar 31st, 2009 Posted in Daily Post | Comments Off

I recently took a class at our local stamp and scrapbooking store… Memory Lane.  Robin told us she had something really cool to show us. She used the eggs from Denami to make this really cute “fuzzy” embossed egg using some kind of new fibers she had been sent as some samples from a new company. She has ordered all 15 colors!! WOW…15 colors!! We only had about 6 to work with. You can get them at her store.  The fibers will “emboss” together using BRILLIANCE  INK… it will only work with this type of ink for some reason. ..

You have to INK UP your stamp with the Brilliance ink, then turn it rubber side up (if you don’t already have it that way), and lay groups of the different colored fibers (or one color if preferred) on top of the inky side. Lay a piece of parchment paper over top of the fibers.  Use a pressing iron set to the SILK setting and apply the iron onto the parchment paper, moving it around to make sure all fibers get heated well.  Do this about 10 seconds. Remove the parchment paper and you can “peel off” the embossed fibers that now have the stamp impression.  Pull off any excess fibers from around the edges (those that didn’t get heated), giving the image a “feathery” edge.  Put all unused fibers back in their bag/box, or into a new bag to be used with others on the next image.   Attach the embossed fibers to your card.  Here’s my finished “embossed fiber egg” card.  DO NOT ATTEMPT with CLEAR stamps.. the heat may “melt” the image.

Organizing Your Stamping Space……

Mar 30th, 2009 Posted in Uncategorized | one comment »

If you’re like me.. you tend to create, and stamp, and make messes, and then you have to put it all away again, then start over.. The main problem seems to be taking the time to get things organized in the first place. Many of you have seen where I took out an old hot tub to make room for my stamp classes. I had my friend Gail come and help me move things around, bring my “stamp org bins” out from other places, and arrange things to “work”. But as in all things.. the PAPERWORK piles up!! What to do with all those ideas we get, those tutorials that are 30-76 pages long, those “freebies ” we pick up in stores. Well… yesterday afternoon, I spent several hours, punching holes in papers, cleaning out folders stuffed full of ideas and classes, and actually put then in some semblance of order… into 3 ring notebooks. Now… PART of all tlhe stamp supplies and ideas are organized… to where you can actually “put your finger on it”, instead of stopping to think….now what pile did I put that card design in I saw the other day (which may have bee weeks ago, not just the other day)…. Here’s some pics of my space. I will put captions under each so you know what you are looking at.

The tables are a bit of a mess… because I spent 2 hrs with my granddaughter showing her how to stamp and letting her create her own masterpieces….. I haven’t put all the “things” away from that or a card class (still in boxes on the table)… I will make up all the extra cards from the class, so I won’t go wondering.. now why did I cut this like this?? sometime in the future. I have “boxes and boxes” of leftovers from classes and have decided it’s better to take the time and finish the extras and bundle them up to sell, rather than putting them in a box to be made up later..>>> later never comes!!

The wooden shelves are located at the other part of the room where I still have two tables I can work at, and be near the computer to get more ideas. :)
