Sketch Frenzy Friday …. July 30th

Jul 30th, 2010 Posted in Challenges, Daily Post, SKETCHES, Specialty Classes | 7 comments »

Here’s this week’s sketch:

Here’s my take on the sketch. Enjoy!!

I’ve been wanting to take some trips…go visit my friends and sister in Texas…but my little ol jeep has decided to not run very well..it’s old (like me, only not THAT old), and it needs a VERY EXPENSIVE part that is not made any more…..SOOOOOO.. this is the closest I can get to traveling for the moment! I am taking off in my “imaginary new SUV” and seeing the SouthWest!! The paper in the summer min has a map (which was used in this card), and I got to looking at it and GUESS WHAT!! All the towns are here in New Mexico!! I looked some more and it shows the big I-25 and I-40 that run through our state! SO the map is NEW MEXICO!! How cool is that!! Most of the colors in those papers are blue, orange, some lighter blues. So I used the new Concord Crush, it complimented the Bashful blue very nicely. The orange I used was Pumpkin, and Tangerine Tango.  Now, off on my “exploring trip” !!!

Here’s the stamp set: Sentimental Journey, available in the Summer Mini until Aug 31st.

Sentimental Journey – Clear-Mount Stamp 120075

Cards for Troops…

Jul 29th, 2010 Posted in Big Shot Ideas, Card Classes, CARDS FOR TROOPS, Specialty Classes | Comments Off

How many of you have friends, neighbors, loved ones, or know of someone who has someone overseas in the Military?? I know some people overseas, so I’m sure many of you do also.  I know how lonesome it gets over seas, and how hard it is to get things, especially hand made items!!

I am starting a group to make cards to send to the troops.  If you are in the Albuquerque area, you are welcome to join our group and help make cards to send to the Blue Star Mothers who distribute all our hand made cards to the troops.  I have attached a REGISTRATION FORM HERE for anyone who would like to sign up and come. We will have a card making session once a month on the 3rd Thursday beginning at 1:00PM.   This is open to anyone who would like to come. You must pre-register so we can get the supplies for the cards.  As supplies are exhausted, we will order more in a group order.

If you would like to do something nice for our troops, and have some fun with other stampers at the same time, please print off the registration form and mail it to me with the required payment.   I have room for 8-10 people at a time to stamp.  The stamp sessions will run from 1:00PM to ???PM. You can leave when you get tired, or run out of materials!!

If you are a VETERAN of any of the branches of the Armed Forces…. bring your cutter, scissors, scoring tools if you have them and come help us make cards….nothing else required. You don’t have to help supply any of the cardstocks. I will supply everything. Just let me know you are coming so we have plenty of space to stamp!

Thank you for visiting my blog.
