Bonsai from Stampin’ UP!

Stampin’ Up! always has a variety of stamp sets offered each year in our catalog. The new catalog is coming out next week, June 1st. I try to get and keep all the Oriental related stamps since I participate in an Oriental Stamp Art group. This little bonsai stamp was a member of one such stamp set a few years back. You never know when you’ll need a BONSAI tree to stamp!  Here is my card I submitted to my swap hostess.

I ran out of all the big pieces of Pear pizazz designer paper so had to improvise on one. Here’s my alternative card, made with ‘pieces”..but I actually like it better.

I used Stampin Write Markers to color the tree, trunk, and vase, before stamping the images. The larger white square over the base card was stamped with Pear Pizazz ink using the flourishes from Creative Elements stamp. It looked too stark without a little bit of green to match the trees.

I ended up making 7 cards all alike in design except for the last one. I sent one to a special lady (my sister in law) who has been sick, since I knew she liked Oriental work., then 4 for the swap, one for the hostess of the swap, and one for my scrapbook of cards.

We have a stamp set retiring this year called Plant Hope #120540 for $15.95 that has 3 sets of trees, one of them a BONSAI. SO if you’re looking for a nice set with trees, including the BONSAI, you can still order it this week! To go directly to the Plant Hope set, click here.

Just CLICK HERE and get your stamp set before it’s GONE!

Thanks for stopping by my blog. Be sure to leave a comment and let me know what you would like to see.

I have had requests for my list of retiring stamps for sale. I have to photograph them then I will put a link. I have over 100 sets (this year and years past) for sale beginning June 1st, 2012.

I love oriental art too and love your card!! There are just so many different techniques you can use with the oriental designs so I always feel like I am getting more than my money’s worth. Thanks for sharing Connie.

Oh, I like the one with the off set mats best too. It’s a great way to use up some pretty scraps. TFS!

I think that oriental cards are so beautiful. You have done a great job on these cards. ‘Great job’ Connie.
