Cards for Troops…

Jul 29th, 2010 Posted in All Occasion cards, Big Shot Ideas, CARDS FOR TROOPS, Card Classes, Special Announcements, Special Promos, Specialty Classes | no comment »

How many of you have friends, neighbors, loved ones, or know of someone who has someone overseas in the Military?? I know some people overseas, so I’m sure many of you do also.  I know how lonesome it gets over seas, and how hard it is to get things, especially hand made items!!

I am starting a group to make cards to send to the troops.  If you are in the Albuquerque area, you are welcome to join our group and help make cards to send to the Blue Star Mothers who distribute all our hand made cards to the troops.  I have attached a REGISTRATION FORM HERE for anyone who would like to sign up and come. We will have a card making session once a month on the 3rd Thursday beginning at 1:00PM.   This is open to anyone who would like to come. You must pre-register so we can get the supplies for the cards.  As supplies are exhausted, we will order more in a group order.

If you would like to do something nice for our troops, and have some fun with other stampers at the same time, please print off the registration form and mail it to me with the required payment.   I have room for 8-10 people at a time to stamp.  The stamp sessions will run from 1:00PM to ???PM. You can leave when you get tired, or run out of materials!!

Thank you for visiting my blog.

Sketch Frenzy Friday… July 23, 2010

Jul 23rd, 2010 Posted in All Occasion cards, Challenges, SKETCH FRENZY, Specialty Classes | 7 comments »

Another week gone and another week closer to Christmas!!

Here’s this weeks sketch:

SFF07232010

I chose to put all images and the sentiment separate…..that’s what happens when your “sketch” diagram is on the computer in another room, and you have scribbled it onto a piece of paper to take out to your stamp room.. I’m sure NONE of you EVER do that?? yeah..right!!  Anyway, I wanted to stay simple and not do a lot of distressing. But I ended up making two different versions. I couldn’t get my little squares so little. I used the 1 1/4″ and 1 3/8″ square punches, and the little scallop square punch for all the images.  Which one do you like better?? Card A, or Card B?  Leave me a comment as to your favorite.

You might notice I didn’t use designer paper for this one. I try to do a lot of stamping for the background so I can show my stampers how you can use your stamps and get the most use out of them. Years ago, we didn’t have matching papers and stamps. So this is a good way to create your own paper!

Card "A"

Here’s my second version. I was trying to get a knot or bow, or something.. like the sketch showed. Sometimes I take the sketch “literally”, and sometimes I just use it as a basic guide, then go out of the box and make it my own. Hope you enjoy both of them.

Variations using Friends Never Fade….

Jul 7th, 2010 Posted in All Occasion cards, Card Classes, Gifts, NEW PRODUCTS, Retiring Sets, Specialty Classes | 3 comments »

Here are the variations I did after everyone left and I had all the card sets leftover. I’m trying to make up all the cards left over from classes so I don’t have a million “project” boxes setting around with unfinished projects!!

I used Friends Never Fade and the same colors as during the Make n Take session: Daffodil delight, SO Saffron; Marina Mist, Bashful Blue, and coordinating ribbons.

Come back tomorrow for something else… and Friday for the Sketch Frenzy Friday!!
