Cards for Troops…

How many of you have friends, neighbors, loved ones, or know of someone who has someone overseas in the Military?? I know some people overseas, so I’m sure many of you do also.  I know how lonesome it gets over seas, and how hard it is to get things, especially hand made items!!

I am starting a group to make cards to send to the troops.  If you are in the Albuquerque area, you are welcome to join our group and help make cards to send to the Blue Star Mothers who distribute all our hand made cards to the troops.  I have attached a REGISTRATION FORM HERE for anyone who would like to sign up and come. We will have a card making session once a month on the 3rd Thursday beginning at 1:00PM.   This is open to anyone who would like to come. You must pre-register so we can get the supplies for the cards.  As supplies are exhausted, we will order more in a group order.

If you would like to do something nice for our troops, and have some fun with other stampers at the same time, please print off the registration form and mail it to me with the required payment.   I have room for 8-10 people at a time to stamp.  The stamp sessions will run from 1:00PM to ???PM. You can leave when you get tired, or run out of materials!!

Thank you for visiting my blog.

Hand made boxes…

I taught a class yesterday showing my stampers how to make these cute little boxes. I had “requests” to do certain colors for them, so all the papers you see used here ARE retired, but hey….they wanted these colors and they turned out so cute!! I haven’t received my new papers yet…… they came, they were damaged, they’re being replaced (Stampin’ UP! is SO WONDERFUL about replacing damaged merchandise) that I had to use some retired papers. Besides…what’s retired here, may NOT be retired in UK, AUS, or other parts of the world where you can buy SU products. So hopefully you’ll get some good ideas. I found the tutorial online, but when making it from the instructions provided, they were incomplete, so I modified the instructions so they’re complete and easier to follow.  I hope you enjoy my GAME NIGHT box I made.   My neighbor suggested we make some more with the Jackpot  paper, and coordinating Game Night stamp set to make some more boxes, then  get some decks of cards and put into them (they hold 2 full decks of cards) and send them to our TROOPS. So I will use up my Jack Pot  paper making these little boxes for our Troops overseas.  You could use any paper or decorations you like to make these boxes.

Here’s the Game Night box:

Jackpot w/Game Night stamps

Box in Lilac and Lavender:

Box in BERMUDA BAY!

Here are a few of the cards the ladies made to go into the boxes:

Lavender and Banana

Lavender and white w/embossing

Bermuda Bay: new JUST BELIEVE ss

Bermuda Bay w/scrunchy flower

On this last one I talked Christen into making one of the scrunchy flowers for her card. It ended up being one of her most favorite cards! Very simple.. but very pretty!

They all did very well!! This was a “creativity class” where they had to make up their own card designs and figure out how they wanted to decorate the fronts of the boxes. I did pull down some other samples of cards from other box sets to give them some ideas..but over all, I think they all did a FANTASTIC JOB!! Good job Ladies!!

Gift card … new colors

Jul 6th, 2010 Posted in All Occasion cards, Big Shot Ideas, NEW PRODUCTS, Retiring Sets, Specialty Classes | no comment »

Monday I had a retired sale on all my inks, papers, and some stamp sets for my customers. Those who came had the opportunity to make  a little gift card.

I love the new stamp sets in the Mini and the new catty. I designed the card using Bouquet Bunch so they could use some of the new in colors to color the flowers and vase.  The base of the card was stamped with En Francais, over stamped with With all my Heart, both in So Saffron, then the matt was created with the new Scallop border sizzlit rectangle using the new Daffodil Delight cardstock. They used the different in color markers and some of the newer colors to color their flowers and vase. Ribbon is the new 1/8″ grosgrain ribbon in Daffodil Delight.  They also had the choice of using the new Marina Mist and various blues to make the same card.  After everyone was gone, I took all the pieces left over and modified the design which will be posted tomorrow!!
