Sketch Frenzy Friday….another new sketch

Aug 20th, 2010 Posted in Challenges, Daily Post, NEW PRODUCTS, SKETCHES | 8 comments »

This week’s sketch is a very simple, yet I think easy to make an elegant card. I was working with Navy, crumb cake, and vanilla today for the Cards for Troops, so I chose to use those colors for this card.  Here’s the sketch:

Here’s my take on the sketch.. I had to add the medallion on the left.. I just thought it needed a little   pick me up.. What do you think??

I used the Night of Navy, Crumb Cake and the new designer paper Elegant Soire. That paper is so gorgeous.. I just want to use it on everything… so thought I’d stamp some more and make some more cards just like this one, but maybe with a little twist.. Does your table look like this when you “get on a roll” stamping??
I owe a bunch of cards, so figured this would be a nice card to make up..

FREE card Tutorial!!!

I am creating a tutorial for the cards I did for the sketch this week, since someone asked me…. “how did you do that?”…. SO, to do that I had to recreate the project and take pictures as I went along. It’s amazing how many steps there are to making a card. I just don’t think of all those steps… I just do them. Many times I don’t have any measurements or a sketch to work from. It’s much easier when you do have a sketch.  I spent the past 2 1/2 hrs recreating the Sketch challenge in a different set of colors. Since that pad of designer paper comes in 5 different colors, I chose Peach Parfait to go along with the new Cajun Craze, Early Espresso, and Very Vanilla.  I have Peach Parfait ribbon and Early Espresso ribbon. (this sort of determined my colors, since I haven’t ordered the rest of the colors yet!! I’m on a budget and am trying to just order what I will need for my upcoming classes, so I don’t have a lot of excess embellishments).

Here is my version of the card. As soon as I get done “writing up all the instructions and inserting the 50+ pictures I took to show you all the steps”… I will update this post with a link to a PDF file for the instructions. So check back tomorrow morning (I hope, if my fingers don’t get tired typing, and the battery doesn’t run down on my laptop!!) for the tutorial!!

begin with this.......

Then you can see how I started with the stack of papers…….. and ended up with this>>>>>

Please take time to leave a comment and tell me what you think of my color choices and use of the various stamps. I ended up using a total of 4 different stamp sets for the 4 cards I made.   Enjoy!!

Here is the tutorial for this project. Diamond Sketch Circle Circus This tutorial is free for you to use. Please do not copy or sell it, as it is my own work. If you would like to share this tutorial with your friends, please send them the link to this blog post, do not link directly to the file. Thanks for being a considerate blogger. This will help all bloggers keep their costs down. If I find people linking directly to the PDF file, I will remove it. Thanks again for visiting my blog.

What do you do with all those left over pieces when you make one card….I just couldn’t leave all those pieces in ANOTHER box of a leftover project. So here’s what my table looked like… I just started stamping and making some more cards. I did the center medallion with the Circle Circus large medallion instead of the cross.  One of the final cards are shown last. I actually have 4 more stamped, (see above the finished cards) to assemble. It just got too dark in my stamp room and my doggie wanted his dinner.  Enjoy…I really like comments.. so feel free to leave me one!!
