Hand made boxes…

I taught a class yesterday showing my stampers how to make these cute little boxes. I had “requests” to do certain colors for them, so all the papers you see used here ARE retired, but hey….they wanted these colors and they turned out so cute!! I haven’t received my new papers yet…… they came, they were damaged, they’re being replaced (Stampin’ UP! is SO WONDERFUL about replacing damaged merchandise) that I had to use some retired papers. Besides…what’s retired here, may NOT be retired in UK, AUS, or other parts of the world where you can buy SU products. So hopefully you’ll get some good ideas. I found the tutorial online, but when making it from the instructions provided, they were incomplete, so I modified the instructions so they’re complete and easier to follow.  I hope you enjoy my GAME NIGHT box I made.   My neighbor suggested we make some more with the Jackpot  paper, and coordinating Game Night stamp set to make some more boxes, then  get some decks of cards and put into them (they hold 2 full decks of cards) and send them to our TROOPS. So I will use up my Jack Pot  paper making these little boxes for our Troops overseas.  You could use any paper or decorations you like to make these boxes.

Here’s the Game Night box:

Jackpot w/Game Night stamps

Box in Lilac and Lavender:

Box in BERMUDA BAY!

Here are a few of the cards the ladies made to go into the boxes:

Lavender and Banana

Lavender and white w/embossing

Bermuda Bay: new JUST BELIEVE ss

Bermuda Bay w/scrunchy flower

On this last one I talked Christen into making one of the scrunchy flowers for her card. It ended up being one of her most favorite cards! Very simple.. but very pretty!

They all did very well!! This was a “creativity class” where they had to make up their own card designs and figure out how they wanted to decorate the fronts of the boxes. I did pull down some other samples of cards from other box sets to give them some ideas..but over all, I think they all did a FANTASTIC JOB!! Good job Ladies!!

I wanted to do a few more cards , sort of distressed style using some of the retiring colors. I picked SAGE SHADOW, RUBY RED, and some GARDEN GREEN for these “distressed cards”.. I also used the smooch sprays, both gold and log cabin on the butterflies.

Cards for Mom…

May 4th, 2010 Posted in Floral Cards, Mothers Day, Retiring Sets, Specialty Classes | one comment »

One of my dear friends came over the other day to pick up her order. I was working on some projects, and decided to make a Mothers Day card with the Messages For Mom stamp set that was in the Spring mini (ended 30 april). I asked what colors her mom liked, (lavenders), so I made her this card with Lovely Lilac and Dusty Durango.  I also made a second one to send out to a mom. Mary’s Mom loves COLOR.. so hope she liked this one.

The second card is Bermuda Bay with Lovely Lilac. I also used the Vintage Vogue stamp set with rock-n-roll technique on the flower.
