I don’t know how many of you have ever “traded” Artists Trading cards… They are small, compact, and easy to make or can be very “tedious” as the one I’m going to show you.  They were orignally started in the 1700′s as miniature portraits that were sold.  During the Impressionist age, Artists cards were traded to study each other art styles and techniques.  If you’d like to read about their history… here’s a link. They’re very interesting.  I have traded Oriental style ATC’s,  “vintage” style, and now we’ve done a 44 color Stampin’ UP! style. I will be posting all of the Color Families over the next few weeks, on Mondays… so come back and check to see the next batch!     Enjoy.

Stamping ..or Cooking…?

Aug 6th, 2009 Posted in Big Shot Ideas, Die Cuts, Floral Cards, LNS | 5 comments »

Ok.. I have a problem… when I was cleaning out boxes, I ran across this “thing”.. I don’t know what it is….Do you? First person to tell me what it is, will receive a card like the one I am posting next with the Lattice punch out. My daughter said it might be a really cool stamping tool!! I think it has something to do with cooking, but I really don’t know what it is. Here is the picture of it.

Ok.. now on to my card I have been laboring over. I wanted to do something with the Sizzix lattice die, and I started out to make a “monochromatic” card for the LNS Challenge this week. But it didn’t turn out to be monochromatic, as you will see.  This is what I started with>>>> the cut out…..

Next I started playing with the actual piece that comes out of this… the actual lattice.  I love blues, so wanted to use the new Thoroughly Modern paper which has the new Bermuda Bay blue as one of the designs. Sahara sand just goes with it so well… so here’s the finished card… my own design, my own creation… I amaze myself sometimes!! I didn’t case anyone on this one!!

My second item is a little book called a “chopstick” book, since it is bound together with chopsticks.

My last item is a little matchbox. I used various techniques to make the stamped paper that wraps around the box. The drawer itself is made from some of the new designer paper, Thoroughly Modern, and the flower from the new sizzlit Floral Fusion.
