Highdesert Stamper – Artistic Inkspirations

I had to include Jackie Topa’s Card here… since I used some of my retiring papers to make this little book. So here’s her card first!

I watched a 2 hr long video and decided I needed to try my hand at making this little book.  The design is by a quilter no less…who got into paper crafting…..”Follow the paper trail”…. I made this little book for a special little grandson who loves to hike all over the mountains, tracking animals and discovering things in the Smokey mountains. So shhhh… don’t show him the pictures!!  The cover has copper leaves I punched out with my bigshot, and similar paper leaves decorate every page inside. He has plenty of pockets  to stuff things in , and lots of pages to put pictures of all his animals, their tracks and whatever he discovers.  If you click on the link above , you can watch the 2 hr utube video to learn how to make the book!!

all papers are SU designer papers from the past year. I tried to use colors with leaves, and colors a little boy would like. I hope he likes it!!  The book ties shut with the retiring 1″ stitched chocolate grosgrain ribbon.

The book is a 5″ chipboard base for front and back covers. There is a tag in each of the pocket.

We are getting some gorgeous new designer papers this May, for the Summer Mini flyer. They are designed to be colored! I sponged crushed curry on one sheet to give it a “distressed smudged ” look. What do you think?  If you click twice on each image, you’ll get a much larger close up view. You can see how the “embossed” designs show through on these “Presto Prints” designer papers. I think I’ll use this one as a basic page to mat some of the 90 snapshots I took of my granddaughter playing in her new sandbox this past week. Of course, can’t get all 90 on one page, but I can pick the best…. especially when she decided to lay down in the grass beside our rat terrier and put her arm around him… What would you use papers like this for?

It’s almost spring here in New Mexico…at least the weather seems like it, and things are starting to bud, especially the green grass and trees. We didn’t get the amount of snow here that everyone else got.. so this little Trendy Tree box is just the thing to make and give to a neighbor or friend.. Maybe you had someone do something special and a “little” thank you is called for.  Enjoy!!
