Creative Sketches had two different sketches to pick from. One was a TRI-FOLD card/page, the other a 1/2 sheet scrapbook page. Here is the sketch I chose to work from:

This is the TRI-FOLD mini photo card. I don’t have any grand children around who visit so I can take pics, so I chose to use my daughter’s little Rat Terrier.. Mr Tucker. He’s like a grandson anyway… he follows me EVERYWHERE!! Even to my stamp room!

I used a 4×12 piece of textured real red cardstock, scored at 4″, 8″ and some embellisments from the Letters To Santa Accents pack.

I added some bling with the SILVER GLIMMER paper, peeling the back layer to be able to punch out the snowflakes. I also used some around Mr Tucker’s picture to highlight it. Stockings were punched using the Letters to Santa paper and the Stocking punch. I added some of the new ruffled in-color Lucky Limeade ribbon along the right side of the last panel. Tucker’s just laying there waiting for Santa to come fill his stocking with “low fat, sweet potato treats”.. He loves those.

Here’s how it looks standing up. That’s the nice thing about making a tri-fold card like this…you can do one for each member of the family and line them all up on the mantel or a book case on display!

How bout some closeups of the pages? … page 1

Center panel with picture of Mr Tucker

Last panel with the rest of his stockings!!

I hope you get some ideas using this tri-fold format.. it’s an easy way to make a “quick photo book” and send it off to those who never get to see you! Be sure to leave a comment and go back and check out the rest of the ladies projects HERE.

I’ve made you a Halloween “Frugal” Scrapbook

This month is SCRAPBOOK time! I don’t make a lot of scrapbooks, as I don’t have many pictures to put in them. I have LOTS of my daughter’s little dog…. you’d think he was a grandson or something.. With  the economy the way it is, people aren’t spending a lot on “luxury” items, so I have made a “FRUGAL  half-size scrapbook”.  This one is made all of cardstock, no binder to put it into. So your only cost in making something similar is the cost of the cardstock, some inks, existing stamps from your Stamp Stash,  any embellishments you might have around your craft room, and the 3 rings to hold all the pages together…and oh yes.. a  MAGNET to close it shut.

I am having a Halloween Card/Gift class this week, so I thought I’d let the gals make one of these… so my theme is Halloween. You can make one of these quickie scrapbooks in an afternoon and make it ANY THEME you desire! So if you need a quick gift for a party, anniversary, etc… give it a try. It’s amazing what you can find in drawers once you start digging for things to decorate your book.

First the COVER: The right flap is held shut with a little strip of magnet. It only takes about 1″ of magnet on both sides of the flap to hold the book shut. I used to hunt all over town for magnets before SU came out with this wonderful pack of magnet sheets. You get 3-  12″ long sheets to a pack.

Here’s a closer view of the cover and side flap >>>

Inside the cover is a couple of pages for you to write some notes on what the event might be….Halloween party, trick or treating, school party, Masquerade ball, etc.

Each section has a cover page, followed by 4 pages for pictures. Here’s Section I:

Then on to SECTION 2:

And finally SECTION 3:

Here’s another view of the book…you can see all the different sections

I know in parts of the country there’s not a lot of rain… but some can get to a beach.. So why not take some pics and have a picnic and get all those memories into a scrapbook or some cards to put in a book? I used to take a little notebook with me when I traveled, and wrote down each day where we were, what we did , and if I had a map showing any points of Interest.. that too. Then when I got home I could put them all on bigger pages for a Memory Book. Cards are great for adding to memory books too! Here’s one, using the SUMMER SPLASH stamp set.. PERFECT for a picnic at the BEACH!!
