It’s Thursday and time for another challenge from Creative-Sketches Challenge website! This week they are having a Holiday Challenge. Here is my card for this challenge.  I have been making all kinds of Valentine cards….so here’s the final one before I start on something else…maybe I’ll get to use the new Nature Walk botanical stamp!! This is an over size card, 5″x7″ …but will appreciated I’m sure by the special person who will be receiving this special card.  I used the twisty ribbon technique on the front along with one of the new little metal trinket keys that are now available in the mini Occasions flyer.

Valentine for my Sweetheart

Key to the heart...

I used pink pirouette cardstock for the base, the Love Impressions designer paper, red satin ribbon, red glimmer paper, whisper white and real red cardstock, embossing folders in delicate dots and vintage wallpaper, pink pirouette 1/8″ taffeta ribbon, victoria lace trim, and finally, the whole heart punch, triple heart punch…. WHEWWWW!!!! that was a lot of things!!  The red squares were embossed with the Vintage wallpaper embossing folder. It’s hard to see here, but all the glitz of the glimmer hearts really show up in natural light.  Hope you’ve enjoyed my card. Be sure to try your own card and connect it to the main blog HERE.

Creative-Sketches CS16T Technique – Punches

Jan 20th, 2011 Posted in Creative-Sketches, Dry Embossing, PUNCH ART, SKETCHES, Valentine, Valentine Items | 2 comments »

This week for the Creative-Sketches Challenge, we had to use punches. I used the little tiny envelope punch to make a flower and a teeny tiny envelope on two different Valentine cards. The punch is actually called “Petal card ex-large double”… Dont’ know why it’s called that. We used to have a large sizzix die that matched it, but made a nice envelope, or heart about 3 1/2″ across.  So here is my teeny tiny envelope and “flower”

First here’s my Valentine with a teeny tiny envelope and lots of punched out hearts. I used the triple heart punch to get all the little hearts, and ran them through an embossing folder to give them a little texture. I also added some tombow glue and silver glitter for a bit of bling. It just looked ok, but the bling really improved the looks of the card.

This is the second card using the petal punch. I used 4 sets with scallop circle punches for the center rosette. The border uses the new tulip border embossing folder.Paper is the Love Impressions paper currently available on a bundle purchase.  I

I have added another thing I made with punches, since I really wasnt’ happy with my 2nd card. Here’s a little calendar I made using the Owl punch, scallop circle, scallop square die, and circles #2 die from the bigshot. I used the Holly Jolly Christmas paper as the background. This calendar was originally designed by Diana Gibbs..she’s made so many cute ones.

I have some available for sale in my ETSY SHOP HERE

Be sure to create your own project with punches, and enter your link on our main website HERE.
