This week for the challenge on Creative-Sketches we had a sketch and a technique. The technique was watercolors. I love doing watercolors of all kinds. I’ve done the floating watercolors and just watched the SU video on the “Bleeding Watercolors” , so that’s what I have done with my card.  Here’s the sketch we had to follow.

This what I did with this sketch and my “Bleeding Watercolors”

I used several different stamp sets in addition to the bird punch for the leaves, and some smooch spray.. can’t seem to get away from those sprays. When doing the Bleeding Watercolors, you have to emboss your images first as in the Floating Watercolors, but it uses a different paper. This one used the plain GLOSSY WHITE cardstock and WHITE embossing powder. Then you wet the cardstock a lot and use the waterbrush, dipping it into your colors and let them “bleed” all over the image. Start with your lightest color first, then add the darker ones. I outlined some of the branches with Old Olive to give them more emphasis. Tree branches were stamped in Crumb Cake ink, then sprayed with the gold smooch spray. The bottom PINK paper is from the FREE Sale-a-Bration pack ICE CREAM PARLOR, along with the strip of green trim.

I used Daffodil Delight, Regal Rose, and Melon Mambo for the bleeding technique.

Here’s a close up of some of the flowers and smooch spray:

Supplies used: Stamp sets: Easter Blossoms, Define your Life, Bliss (free during SAB);

Inks: Crumb cake, Old Olive marker (to bring out the leaves), Melon Mambo, Regal Rose, Daffodil Delight, Gold smooch spray, Early Espresso;

Other: Versamark ink, White embossing powder, Very Vanilla cardstock, Naturals kraft cardstock, Glossy white cardstock, Ice Cream Parlor designer paper and trim; Crochet lace trim, Trinkets, and Vintage tags, Bird punch

Thanks for stopping by my blog. Be sure to leave a comment if you like my card, and I will make another one, since I have MORE flowers. and send it to one lucky blog hopper! BUT YOU HAVE TO LEAVE A COMMENT HERE. You can get your name in there an extra 2 times by checking the LIKE button on Facebook and following my blog!!

Here’s what the flowers looked like before fussy cutting them.

Coloring with Markers

Apr 17th, 2010 Posted in Watercoloring | Comments Off

Have you seen cards where the images are all different colors… and you wonder how they did that? The trick is using your StampinUP markers to color the images how you want them, then “huff” on them and stamp!! It’s easy as that.

Using-markers

Technique A: Multiple Colors

1]   Use a marker to apply ink only to the desired parts of the image.

2]   Add other colors if desired.

3]   Breathe on the inked image to re-moisten the ink with your breath before stamping onto paper. (this is the “huffing” technique)

Technique B: Omitting

1]   To omit a certain part of a stamp image, use a marker to apply ink only to the desired parts of the image.

2]   Breathe on the inked image to re-moisten the ink with your breath before stamping onto paper.

You can purchase the SU markers by individual, by “family color set”, or by the whole case. When purchased by the case, you get all 48 regular colors in an easy to carry storage case with handle.
