Sketch Frenzy Friday….Aug 27, 2010

This is Sketch Frenzy Friday, but I don’t have my card done. I pulled a muscle in my lower extremity earlier this week and have not been able to get up and down the stairs to my stamp room.. I will have my card posted later in the day. So please check back, In the meantime I have a little tutorial I did, while mounting some new stamps.   I have had trouble placing the label onto the new little rubber stamps with those sticky sides, and getting it aligned right. Well, tonight while going through all my new “sneak peek” goodies, I tried something different. It was SO much easier!!!

The labels for the new clear/cling mount stamps come on a sheet with a protective paper covering on it. Like this..

paper removed

I have removed the paper covering from the stamp label.

Next, you take and remove the protective covering from the back of the rubber piece and place it right onto the sticky label with the label STILL on the sheet. This is easy to do, since it’s held in place and you can see where to align the edge very easily.

Then you just pull the stamp off the sheet and the label is in the right place!!! So much easier!!

This set I mounted is one of the new clear mount Hostess Level I sets, called “AFTERTHOUGHTS”, it has 6 different stamps.  You can get one FREE by holding a workshop or Ordering $150 more in SU products! You’ll also earn some hostess dollars to spend on anything you want from our catalog or seasonal mini flyers!  Here’s a look at the stamp set that you can get free!! Submit a qualifying order to me before the end of  August, and I’ll give you a Tutorial valued at $25!!

Here’s the sketch for this week, which I will have a card up later on Friday. I am sorry, it was just so painful to walk, every step hurt, let alone trying to get up and down a set of steps.!!!

Here’s my card. I was going to use the new Dark and Dreary, but I decided to go with Dasher for Christmas!! I used some of the champagne shimmer paints on the scallop around Dasher and on the bottom scallops. It’s not real visible with the camera flash, so one pic will be a bit dark to show up the shimmer paint. I tried using the pacific point as the scallop, but it was too too dark.. so Isponged the scallop like I had sponged the sky over dasher.  I hope you can get some good ideas from our sketches!

By clicking on each picture it will open in a new window bigger so you can see the shimmer paint. These types of cards are much prettier in natural light.

Thanks for stopping by.

Card box… 1 sheet

Aug 22nd, 2010 Posted in 3-D Items, BOOKS & Boxes, Die Cuts, Featured Projects | one comment »

I watched a video from some demo.. don’t remember who, but she made a little box using one sheet of card stock. So I had to go try it. In the video she said to cut the cardstock after scoring, but didn’t say on which score lines. so it took a little experimenting. I chose to make a belly band to go around the front. Here’s my little box. I used the new In-color pad of DSP from the Hostess sets to decorate the front. The Flower on the band I made from other scraps of designer paper. I added some gold smooch spray (was just about out, so had to dab some on with my fingers!! ).. it worked!!

Belly band

The box turned out ok. I made one card using the same bird punch and some of the Peach Parfait paper and the hostess dsp.

Flower was stamped with Cajun craze. Card stock is Wild Wasabi and Peach Parfait, Cajun Craze, and Very vanilla.

I will make 3 more cards to go in the box.
