Highdesert Stamper – Artistic Inkspirations

Another week gone and another week closer to Christmas!!

Here’s this weeks sketch:

I chose to put all images and the sentiment separate…..that’s what happens when your “sketch” diagram is on the computer in another room, and you have scribbled it onto a piece of paper to take out to your stamp room.. I’m sure NONE of you EVER do that?? yeah..right!!  Anyway, I wanted to stay simple and not do a lot of distressing. But I ended up making two different versions. I couldn’t get my little squares so little. I used the 1 1/4″ and 1 3/8″ square punches, and the little scallop square punch for all the images.  Which one do you like better?? Card A, or Card B?  Leave me a comment as to your favorite.

You might notice I didn’t use designer paper for this one. I try to do a lot of stamping for the background so I can show my stampers how you can use your stamps and get the most use out of them. Years ago, we didn’t have matching papers and stamps. So this is a good way to create your own paper!

Here’s my second version. I was trying to get a knot or bow, or something.. like the sketch showed. Sometimes I take the sketch “literally”, and sometimes I just use it as a basic guide, then go out of the box and make it my own. Hope you enjoy both of them.

I went out to my stamp room to make a card for the COLOR Guest Designer challenge my friend Sharon Field in Fla. has on her blog….. I got a bit sidetracked. I had been wanting to decorate some more of the little books I had found at our local drug store… someone asked where I got these since they are plain and READY to stamp and decorate.  I don’t know if they have any more in, since I bought all they had several months ago. Who knows… they may have a ton more! So go check out your local drug stores in their school supply and notebook section… you may find some treasures to decorate!  Here is my latest little book. It’s not here any more…. it sprouted wings and flew out with the mailman…someone lucky is getting a surprise!!

I tried making it bigger…. it got so big you couldn’t see the whole book on the page.. so just click on the picture and it will bring it up larger in a new window.

I used several little punches and a band of “homemade” grass.  I didn’t have any more of my favorite vanilla smooch spray (used it all up…that stuff is addictive to use, and use, and use…..)  So I tried the Champagne shimmer paint! Boy is that fun to work with!  I added a pearl from our new jazzy pearls available from SU to set off the flower a bit. What do you think??  Would you like to get one of these in the mail?

I love this new set from SU… it has so many cool elements to use. I wanted to do a brown on brown with accents of black or espresso.. using the new espresso thin, thin 1/8″ ribbons.  This is a LONG card, suitable for mailing in the business size envelopes.  I uses sponging on the central medallion piece to get that aged look.

Elements: Artistic Etchings & Baroque motif stamp sets; Krumb cake cardstock and ink; Espresso cardstock & ink; whisper white cardstock (medallion stamped w/espresso then sponged with krumb cake)
