My mom always loved purple and lavender colored flowers. She used to have gorgeous flower beds all around our house in the country where I grew up in Maryland.  I have created a frilly flower card using some of the retiring colors, Concord Crush, with it’s corresponding lighter shade (not retiring), Wisteria Wonder. I’ve added some paper roses to jazz it up a bit.

I added some tiny pearls into the flowers, on the letters spelling MOM, and on the side. Mom deserves pearls and flowers and lace!! Make your mom a card this Mother’s Day! Here is a close up of the frill and roses.

and the little itty bitty pearls

I used the stamp set Messages for Mom, which is retiring this year. You can use the floral spray for some added interest behind the words.

Supplies: (ret)DSP hostess pack III papers In-Colors; Wisteria Wonder, Whisper white cardstocks; Concord Crush paints, Punches and Dies, paper roses, non-SU. ; Distressing with sponges.

You can still order the Messages for Mom stamp set until May 31st. Then it will be gone forever. Place an order from me including the Messages for Mom stamp set and any retiring cardstock colors and I will send you some “frills” to add to your cards! ORDER HERE!

Overwhelmed by Stampin’ UP! Products retiring?

Markers, 12×12 Cardstock, Ribbons, Brads, Inks, Designer Papers….what to do!!

There are a LOT of items retiring this year with Stampin’ UP!  Are you overwhelmed, and don’t know what you need to get before they’re gone?? I will be posting some suggestions on each product line over the next few days. I myself, thought ..wow…what do I need, what can I “LIVE WITHOUT” ??

Stampin Writers also known as Markers

Do you have the complete set of markers? If so, do you have all the IN-COLOR markers? Each year Stampin’ UP! brings out a new set of IN-COLOR markers that complement the CORE colors. These markers are available for 2 years and then are retired along with all the other accessories. This year, the colors from 2010-2012, Poppy Parade, Pear Pizazz, Blushing Bride, Concord Crush, and Peach Parfait are retiring. These are beautiful colors. They have a matching family group of cardstock available in 8 1/2″ x 11″ and 12×12″ packs. ALL these IN-COLOR sets will be gone in a few short days. You can only order the IN-COLORS in their family pack.

The regular markers that belong in all the other 4 family groups are currently available INDIVIDUALLY for sale. After May 31st, they will only be available for purchase in their family sets. If you need to replace a single marker color, I would suggest you TRY to order it now. But many colors are already SOLD OUT.

What do you use markers for you ask? Here are some things you can use markers for stamping verses the ink pads.

1. Directly coloring multiple colors on a stamp, then stamping on the cardstock. This way you can color flowers or other figures with all different colors at once and stamp one time.

2. Outline a stamped image with a darker color (after you stamp it) to give it more definition.

3. Water coloring: Use the marker to color, then blend with a blender pen or water brush.

4. Use “rock n roll” technique with stamp pads, then add more color with other markers before stamping. This is how I color all my pretty leaves. You need to “huff” on your inked stamp using this method before stamping.

These are a few ways you can use markers. Sometimes I use my markers more coloring the stamps than the stamp pads themselves!

If you need a few extra colors and you haven’t bought them… order quickly!! Like I said.. some colors in the individual colors are already SOLD OUT!
