Pocket of Snowflakes…..Polished Stone

Here is the other piece of the Polished Stone paper I made for the CS07T Creative-sketches challenge..I cut the polished stone paper with the Envelope die on the bigshot, folded the sides in, stamped the BIG snowflake from Winter Post on the front, then loaded it up with all the snowflakes from our new snowflake decorative strip: Northern Frost.   I wanted it to look like an envelope full of snowflakes. but they needed some extra BLING, so I added rhinestones to all the snowflakes. What do you think?

I used all the blues I could find!! Bashful blue, baja breeze, marina mist, pacific point… all combined with white and some gorgeous satin striped ribbon! The light blue base (bashful blue) is embossed using the Northern Flurries embossing folder and the bigshot and sponged over top of the embossing with a little marina mist ink on a dauber.

Tags and Santa Suit card….

I saw a cute card by Selene Kempton…..this one, you’ll find it on her Oct 25th post.

She used the Tags til Christmas stamp set, currently available in the Holiday mini. I don’t have that stamp set, but I do have the two TAG punches that would make the Santa suit on the card. So I messed around and came up with this version.

Now I’ll show you how I made mine.

I first punched the two tags, one in red, and one in white. Then I ran some red and white cardstock through Mr Bigshot with the petals a plenty embossing folder. The white, I did rub crumb cake ink on the recessed side of the folder before putting the white cardstock through Mr Bigshot.  So I ended up with something like this.

At first I didn’t put the crumb cake on the right side…as you can see above in the sample. So I figured out WHICH side to rub it on and ended up with it as in the card. I also rubbed Cherry cobbler on the embossed red piece AFTER I ran it through the embossing folder.

The two little brads above were made by dipping silver brads into glue (mono multipurpose) then into dazzling diamonds and letting them dry overnight. I had done this same thing for a snowflake card a while back, so had some “reserves” to use up.  The belt is our 1/4″ black grosgrain ribbon. The belt buckle is one of the square FIRE rhinestone brads. You can see the brads and “buckle” below.

Then I started assembling all the pieces. I substituted the red/white polka ribbon for our wide black and white striped ribbon. I wasn’t going to use this card for anything in particular, but my daughter and friends wanted it in the Holiday Stamp a Stack I’m having tomorrow. I stamped the basic gray base with the post mark stamp from Winter Post stamp set.  SO next time you see a card and you don’t have the stamp set required to make it… just think a little bit and see if you can come up with a duplicate using other things!!  A friend of mine was over last night and said she liked the “suit” better with all the sparkly brads and rhinestone buckle. So we’ll see how the ladies like it tomorrow! Here’s a look at the whole set they will be making tomorrow and Monday.

I have cased many of the gorgeous cards found out there on the net, modifying some a bit. But I tried to pic a variety using most of our new sets from the Holiday Mini. If you are interested in getting a set to make for yourself, I am offering a Class-Kit-to-go for $30. It will include all the pieces needed to make 16 cards and envelopes. See my FOR SALE page to order your set. They will not include the stamped images, but will include detailed instructions for stamping and assembling on a CD with pictures!. If you need to order the stamp sets to complete them, you can order all online 24/7 HERE.

Cornucopia???

Nov 7th, 2010 Posted in 3-D Items, Card Classes, Challenges, COLORS, Creative-Sketches, FALL & Thanksgiving, Paper Flowers, PUNCH ART, Rubber Stamping, Specialty Classes, Sunday Stamp Class, WORK AT HOME | Comments Off

I’m making some little cones…. that at first glance they sort of look like a cornucopia! This will be the “extra” project my stampers will make on Sunday… I have been asked so many times “how did you do that ribbon”…. so.. .I am going to teach them how I ZIG ZAG the ribbon and get it looking like this.. See my previous sketch Pumpkin card with the zigzag ribbon.

You might be able to tell… the whole thing isn’t complete yet…. didn’t want to spoil it all before Sunday!!

Check back next week to see the finished project!!
