I am a member of an Oriental Stamp Art group…. (I love Oriental designs and stamps). I used to live overseas and we had a LOT of Oriental influence down in Panama. I have quite a few pieces of hand carved TEAK, Rosewood, and Camphor wood chests in my home…some I have bought and some were my moms’.  Because of that influence, I came to like the Oriental arts at an early age. I painted some large Geisha paintings for my mom when I was a teenager….and acquired a beautiful tall Quan Yin made of porcelain, while I was living in Panama in the 60′s. I then got my Mom’s statue when she passed away and it was the OPPOSITE match to mine! I was very surprised they were a matched set!! So I have continued to dabble in Oriental art and rubber stamping. I even took an Oriental watercolor course in Albuquerque while going to college many years ago.  When I found the OSA group.. I was so pleased to find a group dedicated to rubber stamping in the Oriental area. I have received many beautiful cards from the ladies in this group.

So…I made some cards for a swap, using both metal, paper, dry embossing, and ink embossing. I had made extra when I was making them.. (if you have to make 4, make a few more..right?)  So  I sent some to a sweet lady Annette in California and anxiously awaited to hear when she got them. They FINALLY arrived!  So now I can share them…. I also sent her a year of the Rabbit calendar. Her card was created with the Bronze God metal which I get from Monica Weaver at Addalittledazzle. Since I used the bronze, I also used bronze embossing powder for the little Chinese lantern on the card.

Here is a pic of Annette’s packet of goodies which finally arrived!! BTW: the “oranges stamps” on the envelope made from designer paper are “Year of the Rabbit” postage stamps. Even the post office gets in on our Oriental art work!!  I included a little hand made gift card made with the SU French Foliage set, telling her about the contents.

Here is another card I made and sent to Ruth in Oklahoma, who hosted the swap.

I hope you have enjoyed my little dabble into some Oriental stamping and embossing.  My next big project for my Oriental quest, is a book that they make every year… everyone makes 25 pages alike, then the host binds all the different pages into a book and we all get a complete bound book of Oriental Art!! How cool is that!!

Oriental Calendars: I have 2 current yr calendars for sale with the Geisha and Rabbit. I am including the Dragon medallion and a 2012 calendar for these last two. Check here for items for sale.

Check back later for more Stampin’ UP cards , and our weekly challenge for the Creative-Sketches group on Thursday!

Here are where I load all my photos of cards I swap and receive via the Oriental Stamp Art group I belong to.  They have some of the most beautiful creations.
