Visit my Etsy shop for handmade cards, books, and calendars.

I posted some pics a few days ago.. asking what kind of leaves were in my picture. They were GINGKO leaves….as everyone guessed.. But I never showed what they were made into. I was doing a GINGKO swap with the ladies from the Oriental Stamp Art group and didn’t want to post my cards until everyone had a chance to receive their cards.  Here are some pictures of “the making of the GINGKOS”…..

I know every stamper does things different. But when you have to make a bunch of one type of card… it usually starts out making one, and moving pieces around to see how they look, they trying to duplicate the look.  Here’s how I started out… stamping the single GINGKO stamp I had. I added some GOLD SMOOCH ink to accentuate some of the veining. Every GINGKO stamp I’ve seen is different. This one came in a set with 3 other leaf stamps. I had another stamp with a branch spray of Gingko leaves which I used for some of the backgrounds. That stamp was from a retired SU hostess stamp set. I have a bad habit of keeping all my SU Oriental type stamps… they’re so pretty and so well made.. I have a separate box just for such treasures.

Spray of Gingko leaves.. see in upper right part of picture and some on the image on the lower left. This is how I started laying out the leaves to see what I could do with them…sometimes you need to add some dimension by cutting out leaves. These needed come black behind the panels to ground all the green.

more single panels….still waiting to be assembled…. and some assembled below..

all the gingko cards lined up to be packed up and sent off….notice the one with vanilla??? It’s not a card!! I had to make one bookmark. I have a granddaughter who reads everything in site and some other friends who read a lot.. so I try to make bookmarks from some of the leftover pieces when I am making a bunch of the same cards.

I’m not saying who’s book this bookmark will find it’s way too… so I hope the recipient will leave me a comment when they receive it.Thanks for stopping by and checking out my Gingko creations!

Be sure to leave a comment ……you might receive a mystery kit in the mail?  I’ve sent one out… waiting to see what happens!!
